Easton Community Centre Party
Easton Community Centre is a much-loved space in the area of Easton in the UK. Easton is an inner city area of the city of Bristol in the United Kingdom and is one of the most deprived areas in the south west of England, with the Lawrence Hill ward the most deprived ward in the region and one of the most deprived in Britain. This has resulted in the area being granted European Union objective 2 status and 'New Deal for Communities' status by the UK government which is only granted to the most underprivileged urban wards.
What is actually very special about Easton is its diversity going beyond the deprivation. It is a very vibrant and welcoming community, with wonderful organisations and independent initiatives working in the area, friendly neighbourhoods and tonnes of fun community activities such as my very own BS5 Jumble Sale Trail!
Easton Community Centre's vision sees the centre at the heart of the local community providing a sustainable, secure, culturally diverse and accessible space that is valued and supported by the people of Easton and the surrounding area.
Annually the Centre celebrates what is so special about this neighbourhood with a party. in 2012 I was the Event Organiser for Easton Community Centre.
I worked closely with the Board of the Centre, the tea, there and the local community to run a day full of fun activities, children's workshops, cycling games and a music evening in the premises.
